Jesus' disciple John, who wrote the book of Revelation, should be an example for us because he was put into a pot of boiling oil to kill him. When they were not successful in killing him, they abandoned him to an island called Patmos and there he received these revelations:Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit sayeth unto the churches: he that overcometh shall not be hurt of the sickened death (Rev 2:10-11)
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation: And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on earth (Rev 5:9-10)
