Memoir Workshop

03/29/09 22:07

Do you think you have a lot to share about the story of your life? Then you better write your very own memoir.

Almost a month ago, the Hamilton-based Ashlar Writing Programs conducted a one-day writing workshop for writers of all levels--from beginners to seasoned writers. In the workshop, the participants learned the technique called "Writing Through the Body".

The Pursuit of Knowledge and Wisdom

03/23/09 22:18
Is there really wisdom in books? Can it be really found through objective measures? Or is it just knowledge that we find?

In these liberal times, where relativism starts to take some ground, it is really possible to be "enlightened" through research and other objective measures, or are we just fooling ourselves all this time, saying that we have the wisdom when, in fact, we just have the opinion.

Fantasy Writing Workshop

03/18/09 22:34
Fantasy and fiction is among the oldest writing genres. They were established when human imagination was established, and they will remain there as long as imagination is there.

However, not everyone is that good when it comes to converting imagination into words. Not everyone is capable of sharing their imaginations to readers. That is why we have workshops that exactly tackle that aspect of writing. One of them is the Oddysey Fantasy Writing Workshop in New Hampshire

Writing Education in the 21st Century

03/04/09 23:27
In the 21st century, everyone has the opportunity to be a writer and publish his/her works for thousands of people to read. Sometimes, before children of this age formally know how to write formal essays, they are already published writers with a few dozens of readers. This was made possible through the use of the Internet and Web 2.0 tools like blogs.

Now, the National Council of Teachers of English are advocating the use of this 21st century tools in the art of teaching writing to students. Will this work? I personally think it will.
