Please give us a short summary of your website, business model, etc
Instantpros.com is a unique concept to connect people who are looking for knowledge and those who have it. When you register you supply a list of your own specific knowledge keywords, when another user searches for those keywords they will be directed to them. Instant messenger online indicators will show you exactly when that user is online. Everything on the site is simple and easy to use. Best of all for our users is that it is completely free to use.
What has been the most difficult part of creating and running your website?
Everything, the entire process was quite difficult. Altogether the site is a deep array of databases, scripts, programming, ajax. Getting the online indicators to work well is probably the most difficult and there are still bugs needed to be fixed.
What has been the easist part of operating your website?
Generally the site is self maintained, we monitor user complaints, contacts, bugs, chats but thats about it.
What was your biggest mistake?
I hope there isnt a mistake :)
Who maintains your website and why?
Generally there is a single staff who monitors the contact and advertising department. Others monitor the site for errors, bugs ect. Lastly theres an SEO team to try and help the site grow.
Tell us how your business has benefitted from your website?
Businesses can greatly benefit from our site by unintentionally advertising on the site. Say you own a business who does website design, you post that as a knowledge keyword. On the other site a user may be looking for help in website design and they will be connected. Then the business can help out that user and possibly pick them up as a customer.
What are your views on ecommerce and the future of the internet?
Nowhere but up. The fact that ecommerce is getting easier and safer every day more and more people are joining the trend. The only downside is shipping time and costs but also as technology grows that becomes cheaper and faster.
What are your views on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
SEO is needed, no questions asked. It drastically speeds up the time it takes for people to find your site and it is definately a good investment.
What are your views on Search Engines? Have they helped or hindered your website?
They have definately helped but I don't think there is a single search out there who can truely and effectively match a search to the appropriate site.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth is still strong, also link building and press releases work well.
What method has been least successful for promoting your website?
Although I have not tried, e-mail lists do VERY poorly
What would you like to see change with respect to the internet?
Less crap, lets face it, most of the internet has very poor information. My site hopes to be a revolution in how information is gained. By personal experience by a live individual.
